Rochele Mitchell
Rochele has always been involved in performance - from an early career as a gymnast to working and touring with numerous London-based theatre companies.
“Participating in group performance throughout my entire life has really shaped me as an individual, and has provided me with countless invaluable learning experiences. I welcome the opportunity to be involved with Phakama - an organisation that functions to provide other young people with access to similar opportunities to experience, to grow, and to learn in a supportive environment with like-minded individuals”.
She got a first taste of being able to share her knowledge and experience with others during her time spent as a board member of South London based youth and community association, New Initiatives - an organisation running programmes that are inspired by African traditions.
Following her degree in Applied Languages, Rochele has gained over ten year’s experience in an international publishing environment, liaising with UK based editors and authors to create culturally adapted editions of reference books for foreign language markets.
“Having conducted business throughout Europe, the Middle East and French Canada, working in International publishing has given me a very broad appreciation for cultural differences and I will apply this knowledge and experience to my involvement with Phakama.”
Rochele studied Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College and continues to be involved in theatre and performance whenever she can.
